Title : Using visualizations and models to improve teaching and learning
Project Lead : Heinz Bachmann
From : University of Teacher Education Zurich (None)
Dates : from -- to 2014-03-03 13:49:00
Description : Motivation and objectives :
We are a group of lecturers with different professional backgrounds (law, teacher education, health care, management, economics) who are teaching at universities of applied sciences. We are interested in learning more about possibilities of visualizations in the teaching and learning process. Additionally, we are looking for methods that foster collaboration amongst students and between students and teachers in higher education.
Teams :
8 lecturers working at different universities of applied sciences in Switzerland. At present they take part in a training (Certificate of Advanced Studies in Higher Education Teaching) to improve their teaching skills.
Dates :
starting date : 11 September, 2012
ending date : 12 September, 2012

Recordings & Results :
As a learning group and teachers we had an intellectually challenging, intensive and
enriching experience with teachers and researchers at the Technion. The dialogue about
didactical settings and learning cultures in higher education were highly inspiring and will
certainly continue - maybe also concerning OPM.
Conclusions :
A final contribution illustrated how teacher trainings for higher education at the Technion can lead to new university courses.
So we learned a lot about establishing and changing learning settings for teachers in higher education (blended learning, self-organised learning and hybrid learning settings):
- Scientific literacy: How to foster scientific literacy. And how can students establish work at a higher literal level.
- Meta-cognition, learning strategies
- Self regulating learning in distance learning and face-to-face-learning
With Dov Dori we modelled an own complex process.
